Designing the Business Process in BPEL: Security Accreditation for new Airport personnel

New Employees and temporary staff hired by Saibot Airport itself or by one of the many aircraft service providers, shops and restaurants, cleaning companies, delivery services, customs and immigration services and other parties active on the airport need various levels of security clearance. This chapter discusses the process that starts with a request for new accreditation for a staff member by a designated requestor, and that ends with either the accreditation awarded or the request denied. Over the course of the process, the original requestor can enquire after the current status of the request and/or cancel the request.

We will first explore the description of the business process as provided by the business analyst. Then we will turn this description into an abstract BPEL process – one that cannot yet be implemented, but that can be used in its visual representations for detailed discussions with the business analyst.

This figure visualizes the BPEL process design that is created in this section.
